In the film Parade, the migrants march triumphantly at the drumbeat of the victorious year 1945. It remains unclear: are they the victors or the vanquished? Spades that fall on the ground in the third film: are they trophy standards of a defeated enemy, rusted, superannuated cultural values of oppressors, or weapons relinquished by workers ordered by their council to stop their armed uprising? Or is it perhaps the beginning of a general Strike? I would very much wish for this to be a beginning. So that the future, when Moscow heard the distant echo of Tahrir, becomes the present.
